Knik 200

This past weekend, I ran the Knik 200 with my team of 11 dogs. The race was a lot of fun, and all the dogs did amazing! Due to trail conditions, they shortened the race to 150 miles, but the trail itself was still a blast. Some of the hills were a bit rough because of the lack of snow and the wear from all the mushers, but nothing too bad.

Star lead the whole race, marking her fifth time leading every mile of a 100+ mile race. Honey led for the first 75-mile leg, and Calvin took over for the second 75 miles. I ended up dropping two dogs after the first run: Buddy, due to a sore wrist, and Blue, because she’s still young, and I didn’t want to push her too hard.

The remaining 9 dogs finished strong, and I couldn’t be prouder of them!

The full team included: Honey, Star, Arlo, Taco, Calvin, Lobo, Blue, Sailor, Buddy, Hardie, and Hobbes.
